Sleeping Bear Dunes Nature & Landscape Photography Workshop

A workshop for anyone passionate about photography – beginners and beyond!
June 13-18, 2009 (2 day or 6 day)
Leelanau School, Sleeping Bear Dunes

This one-of-kind workshop offers a unique opportunity to expand your technical knowledge and inspire your creativity with educational seminars, in-the-field training and immediate feedback with our unique critiques. We’ve got it all and in a beautiful northern Michigan setting!

Lake Michigan shorelines, winding rivers, and boreal forest are the backdrop at Sleeping Bear. On cool mornings, we'll explore wet meadows to photograph dewy dragonflies, butterflies and wildflowers. In the evenings, we’ll walk the shoreline, composing dramatic landscapes and turn our cameras west to capture spectacular sunsets.

We take our field trips at a leisurely pace so there is time to relax and enjoy our beautiful surroundings.

Educational seminar topics include:

  • • Understanding camera controls-the basics and beyond.
  • • Composition-the art and design of photography
  • • Using Natural light-for landscape and close-ups
  • • Digital techniques-shooting raw, reading histograms, and more
  • • Nature’s Details-special techniques for close-up photography
  • • How to create your own digital slide show

Your instructors are Dean Pennala, an award-winning photographer and teacher with 25 years of experience, (www.pennalaphotography.com) and Kimberli Bindschatel, photographer and publisher/editor of Whisper in the Woods Nature Journal (www.whisperinthewoods.com/kimberli/).
